Sto Lend EP, full title Sil-Taper (Sto Lend EP), is an EP by Auto-Pilot (consisting of Derek Marin and Se Jun Ho) featuring beats programming by Autechre left over from a show. It was initially released under the false pretense as a lost collection of Autechre tracks.

History

Around 2008, an EP listed under Autechre was uploaded onto streaming services iTunes [1] and Amazon [2] purporting a December 01, 1996 release date, before being taken down after a few months. It was later reuploaded as Sil-Taper (Sto Lend EP) by Autopilot around 2010. On Oct 13, 2010 in the WATMM thread, a random user explained that the EP was produced "after a self-titled limited edition CD by the duo ... and never released." The connection to Autechre was explained to be leftover sounds from programmed beats on a Roland R8 after a Warp event (New York Blech party) after Derek Marin of Autopilot lent Autechre their R8. Those recordings went on to be used on some of the tracks. [3]

In the 2013 Autechre AAA, Autechre directly answered questions about that story. [4] Rob corroborated that they did regularly borrow gear, however Sean clarified that he only used to R8 from sequencing, and the actual sounds were from the nord, "so all the sound would be wrong" using purely the R8.
