LP5 is the fifth album by Autechre. It was originally released on July 13th, 1998 on Warp Records. It was later repressed on vinyl in 2021, alongside Chiastic Slide.
LP5 is actually an untitled album, with “LP5” simply meaning “fifth album”. This name was given by fans, after the release of EP7 in 1999. Previously, LP5 was referred to as “Album”, “Untitled”, or even as a self-titled album (“Autechre”). The name, “LP5”, has since gone on to become the de facto official title, with both Warp Records and the band themselves using it.

Trivia
- On CD and Digital releases of LP5, “Drane2” has a length of over 21 minutes, with approximately 12 minutes being complete silence, and the remaining minute and a half being discordant digital noises. The vinyl pressing does not contain the silence and discordant noises, and ended after "Drane2" has actually stopped.
- “Drane2”, is the final entry in an unofficial trilogy of songs, starting with “Drane”, off Autechre's 1999 Peel Session, and “Bucephalus Bouncing Ball”, by Aphex Twin, being the second song.
