History
Britronica Festival 1994 was organised by Nick Hobbs and Artem Troitsky.[1]
Initially Autechre and Ultramarine planned to play on April 15th at the Pilot club, but the PA equipment went missing. Rupert Howe recalls heading to Autechre's room late night on April 16th, where he and a few other people joined Rob in watching a TV make "hallucinogenic patterns" with Rob saying "It's techno, this telly." On April 17th, Autechre performed at Moscow's Palace of Youth (Kontsertnyy Zal Moskovskogo Dvortsa Molodezhi).[1]
Sean noted in the WATMM AAA that while the gig itself went well, the surrounding events encouraged them to not return to Moscow since then.[2] Both Richard D James (Aphex Twin) and Mark Pritchards got food poisoning and ended up being hospitalized, and Bruce Gilbert (of Wire) was thrown off the premises by security armed with Uzis.[2][3]
From recordings, "Lost" and "Djarum" were performed at the show.
