}}AE_LIVE is a compilation of twenty-eight soundboard recordings taken from live shows performed in 2014 and 2015.

== History ==<!-- add tour progression info, i.e. announcements -->
For the US leg of the tour (known as AENA), Cygnus and Rob Hall came along as support.

On October 28th, people were asked to sign up to Autechre's mailing list within the next 24 hours. The following day on the 29th, the first four sets (Krakow 2014 to Dublin 2014) were made availabe for purchase on Autechre's newly set-up<!-- (BLEEP) --> store exclusively to those subscribed to the mailing list. The official announcement came on November 1st, 2015 that it was made available.<!-- do a write up about the experimental store front thing, see twitch ama where sean also talks about this for sharing live shows, and how primitive it was initially + the connection to Bleep. --> Later on December 8th, 2015, the compilation was updated with another five sets (Krems 2015 to Katowice 2015), which also included making it available for everyone to purchase.

After a few years, it was amended with the 19 sets from AENA (Portland 2015 to Denver 2015) on January 30th, 2019.
Main analysis by EnergyIsMassiveLight. Major sources (especially fan names) are from daffodil's splits and elseq 6-10. Track titles are numbered on the mega spreadsheet, however track matches/elements are included in the immediate analysis below. The officially released sets in the list are highlighted in bold and bootlegs recordings of unreleased shows are italicized. Much of the material on the 14/15 live shows have elements and tracks that later appeared on elseq 1-5 and NTS Sessions 1-4.
* #1 Elements of "acdwn2" and "t1a1" <small>(fan names: acdwn2 / tacdwn1)</small>

* #9 <!-- often considered part of (wub), but including it makes that segment way longer than usual. cutting out the outro as its own track makes both sense to bring it in line with other track lengths, but also early on it was quite awkward transitioned early on, it's a new segments not unlike spiral (vibe) to spiral, and it is not included in most versions of the sets --> <small>(fan names: wub / ticplayal hv TBM)</small>
Trivia
* Sean mentioned that there's a DMX kick and snare in the live shows "but nobody ever comments on them".
* Some sets that were highlighted by Sean in interviews were the Los Angeles set for the LA times as well as the Orlando and Montreal sets
* On early AENA promotional material, the Seattle show was redacted.<!-- should i specultate that this was making sure the venue was not properly confirmed? -->
It's most noticeable on the last few seconds of the track, where the other elements are muted. Besides being one of the most widely-used drum breaks of all time, Autechre had previously sampled it 14 years earlier on "Basscadet (Tazmx)".
* It was made exclusively by Rob.
}}Draft 7.30 is the seventh studio album by Autechre released on Warp Records. It was originally released on April 7th, 2003, then later repressed on vinyl in 2023, alongside Confield.

History
Sean noted that Draft 7.30 was "really straight, using straight-up normal sequencers and samplers." With the exception of some generative elements on "RENIFORM PULS", Draft 7.30 was otherwise written "note by note". Alongside that, a lot of Digital Performer was used, with some use cases being "triggering a sampler from the sequencer (akai z8 over midi)". Draft 7.30 also uses a lot amplitude envelopes, alongside "really light touches of quadraverb and lexicon on select parts"

Before the release of Draft 7.30, early tracks titles were uploaded to CDDB (each track has their original title listed in their respective section). In the WATMM Ask Autechre Anything, Sean confirmed that they were the actual working file titles that he threw onto CDDB "for a laugh."

Tracks
XYLIN ROOM
* One of the percussive samples is of a wooden garden table being knocked on.
* The original title was "Benk Chin".

IV VV IV VV VIII
* The original title was "nwnw8", with the final title being a heavily stylised version of that title - substituting N for IV and W for VV.
* "IV VV IV VV VIII" was initially released as a single for Draft 7.30, both for radio play and download.<!-- the second link requires a flash player like Ruffle, but it shows a minisite which has a link to an IV VV mp3 download -->

6IE.CR
* "6IE.CR" consists of a CR-8000 being fed through a RSD10 with the Nord controlling the pitch of it with some gating and layering for the second half that Sean couldnt properly remember.
* The original title was "606.ie" in the CDDB, which Sean also confirmed in interview that it was initially called that because "it was based on a manipulation of a 606 sound." The title got abbreivated to 6IE, with CR likely being appended to mean the CR-8000.

TAPR
* The original title was "reppat", which when reversed spells out "tapper".

SURRIPERE
* BPM: 120
* The track initially started life as two separate tracks, with the second half made before the first. Later in development, they realised that both tracks had the same tempo and decided to combine it for the final track. <!-- Subtle note, Sean used "us" which implies Surripere at the minimum was decided together to be combined. But this could also indicate that the track was a collaborative effort as a whole -->
* "Surripere" consists of either a fake analog or Nord on the first part, and a Nord Lead with Native Battery's loop modulation on the second part's "crunchy stuff."
* The original title was "Theft". The final title "Surripere" is the Latin root word of surreptitious, meaning to do something stealthily. A straight translation of "Surripere" is in fact "theft"

THEME OF SUDDEN ROUNDABOUT
* “Theme Of Sudden Roundabout” is a reference to Sudden, a suburb of Rochdale where Rob and Sean grew up. The titular roundabout in question could be this one, as seen on Google Maps.
* The original title, as listed on CDDB, was "Prince Moth Mothy Moth Moth". In the WATMM Ask Autechre Anything, Rob mentions this was wrong, that the original title ended with Mother, as in someone who does moths. However, in a 2023 Mastodon post when Sean was asked about the title again, he mentioned that it was just Moth at the end. In that same post, Sean explained that the track was called that after an "epically large moth" landed on their Nord Modular and sat there for much of the track.

VL AL 5
* A 12-minute version of VL AL 5 was played during the 2008-02-23 Webcast.
* The original title was "Vlimpton Alpha 5", which the final title is just an abbreviation of.

P.:NTIL
* The original title was "Foam Conduit".

V-PROC
* The original title was "uprock".
* "V-PROC" initially started out with possibly Linndrum samples before being mangled beyond recognition.

RENIFORM PULS
* The original title listed in the CDDB was "kidney bean". The final title consists of "Reniform", which means kidney-shaped, and "Puls", which is just short for Pulse. "Pulse" can be either be interpreted in an electronic context (i.e. clock pulse) or as a synonym for legume/bean, the latter of which would indicate that Reniform (kidney-shaped) Puls (bean) directly references the original title.
* "Reniform Puls" is the only track to have any use of Max/MSP on Draft 7.30, however most of it was still DAWs: "mostly done in digital performer, but there's loads of hardware on there, and bits of modular stuff."
Background
In a 1997 interview with Pulse! magazine, Sean explained that all of the tracks started off from the same basis. However, over the course of their development each track became more and more distinct until they were left completely unrecognizable.
Tracks
Goz Quarter
* According to Rob, the scratching on the track was achieved with real vinyl.

Tracks
[untitled]
* The untitled hidden track at the beginning of the album is only present on some CD releases of the album, and is only accessible by navigating to the previous song while playing "Rpeg".

Rpeg
Ccec
* The title is likely a play on "seasick." <!-- It says this was confirmed by Autechre because of vocal processing but i cant find it -->

Squeller
Left Blank
* The second half of "Left Blank" uses the Kyma Capybara for the "fft sounding stuff". That same patch using the Kyma went on to be reused on Sal Batardes (Autechre Purple Mix).<!-- i linked to the remix page when it might be more appropriate to link to a upload of it --> <!-- This is more "gear history" (dont know how to deal with that, refer to the gamelan on Confield) but i want to add that the Kyma was also used on the Bic? remix before being given away to Daz Fitton -->

Outpt
Dropp
* The main synth for "Dropp" uses a Nord sequenced in Logic.

Liccflii
* "Liccflii" was the first track Sean did in Max. <!-- also, he pronounes it Lick Fly, which is interesting -->

Maphive 6.1
* The track "Maphive 6.1" was created entirely on a Roland PMA-5, a small, portable music work station with a built in sequencer. The title "Maphive" likely plays on the piece of equipment, shuffling "PMA-5" to "MAP-5".

Zeiss Contarex
* The tracks shares its name with the Contarex camera made by Zeiss Ikon.
* The sample near the end of the track originates from a shortwave radio broadcast, although Sean clarifies he doesn't know what the sample itself was.

Netlon Sentinel
* The track is named after the garden fence mesh by Netlon of the same name.

Pir
Trivia
* The cover of EP7 was made using a circuit board designer<!-- Sean says "in Freehand", dont know if that's the software or the mode or something else entirely -->.
* On the old EP7 minisite, an applet coded by Dorian Fraser Moore of Kleber Digital would randomly regenerate one of 9 unique fractal designs<!-- this was done by decompiling the ep7.class file and seeing that it was reading data from a txt file, randomly chosen from /data/0.txt to 8.txt --> in the vein of EP7's cover, which you could zoom in and move around.<!-- Thanks to atlasstorm for contact dorian. while the interaction was not public, this was dorian's response "@atlasstorm Hiya, it wasn’t quite a rfactal generator, but rather a java Applet which regenerated the artwork from simplified version of the source files. Someone asked me about this back in 2022 and I found an archive of the old, 1999, site and the code still works: https://archive.theusefularts.org/warp/ography/single/WAPEP7/ You need to be able to run Jave in your browser to view it … I got it working in Chrome using CheerpJ Applet Runner, https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/cheerpj-applet-runner/bbmolahhldcbngedljfadjlognfaaein?hl=en Can try and answer other questionsbif you have ‘em!" --> An archived version exists here, however it requires a Java emulator like CheerpJ Applet Runner to run.
* In an offhand comment Sean mentioned that part of the reason EP7 is an EP despite its length was that so they could "do things that weren't album-like." <!-- included it as a trivia note, but this begs the question whether to what extent we need other people assessment. Like we can solely rely on Rob Booth and Brown Sean and other close collaborators, but referring to other people mentioning the more "lo fi mixtape" feel of EP7 would be useful for this, ya know? -->

* Autechre's record deal with Warp Records supposedly states that both Sean and Rob are forbidden to release material under any name other than Autechre (or Gescom in select circumstances).
* The name "Autechre" was created by first typing "au" and then keysmashing the rest until the Atari's 8-character limit was hit. It initially came about as a track title before being adopted as their stage name six months later. ** The initial "au" is a reference to their list of voice samples on the FZ10 which were formatted as "au[descriptive]". Rob described it as vocal choir voices types of samples which were holding notes that sounded like "'or', 'awe', 'au'kland and so on."
** The current accepted pronounciation of Autechre, as the band itself uses, is "awe-teh-ker" (/ɔːˈtɛkər/). AE_LIVE 2022－, otherwise known as twentytwentytwo, is a compilation of seven soundboard recordings taken from live shows performed throughout 2022. It was released on August 10th, 2023, and was first confirmed to be in the works by Sean during a Twitch AMA, on June 5th, 2022.

History
During the Twitch AMA on June 5th, 2022, Sean answered a few questions regarding the live material after having performed the first show of the twentytwentytwo tour. The tour was initially planned to be held in 2020<!-- trivia that there is speculation the title may be a second attempt at the twentytwenty tour, aka twentytwenty two? -->, before the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the tour. Sean mentioned that on his end, he spent the time reworking the back end, getting interested in MC (multi-channel audio in max), physical modelling and scratching, with the last one seeing use on Gescom's AMKS_1. The end product was Sean noting that they had at least 3 and a half hours of material prepared.

The first show of the tour was performed at Primavera in Barcelona on the 3rd of June. In the AMA, Sean mentioned that that particular show did not go well, as they had to negotiate the rights to the soundboard from Primavera before messing up the recording regardless causing it to be left off the initial 2022 batch.

On October 4th, 2022, "AE_LIVE_HELSINKI_110922_LTD" was released early exclusively to attendants of the show, with the reasoning being due to technical issues during the show.<!-- should we possibly include the original cover? --><!-- also maybe find the official announcement of this --> Small glitches started to materialize a third into the show, which progressively became so distracting that by the last third of the show, it was plagued with loud pops and audio dropouts. <!-- very rough synthesis of the reddit and watmm source -->Explanation for the issues reigned in on it being due to the poor subwoofer setup and system clock drift, which in combination with the heavy subbass in the set caused a coil short circuit in the speakers. The soundboard was left unmastered for this release, and later rereleased with proper mastering. <!-- there's mention of similar issues at Athens, though it was not intense enough to warrant any announcement. Doubt it should be included but thought I should note. -->

On August 7th, 2023, Warp sent out an announcement to sign up for to the newsletter. The following day, AE_LIVE 2022－ was officially announced, and the first batch of shows from Milan 2022 to Turin 2022 was released individually and as a compilation on the 10th. The hyphen added to the end of the title indicated the possibility of future sets being added at a later date.

In a Mastodon post on November 18th, 2023, he gave an update that the material was up to "about 4 hours long so far and growing steadily."

* One of the notable tracks to appear in the "Set A"<!-- this is a fan name, how to deal with this. --> material is "ecol4" from PLUS. * During a mixlr stream on March 30th, 2020, Sean skimmed through some of their jam folders, which included two snippets of material from the Set A material.
* In December 2022, Sean posted two max demos to Mastodon; one on the 10th and one on the 15th.<!-- insert explanation of why he posted it, context of the mastadon thread and shit -->It has since been confirmed to be live show patches as both appeared in the Sydney and Dublin sets.<!-- slightly premature but i think AE_LIVE pages can contain information about the tour of not released soundboards. -->
** In the top right corner of the 15th December demo, "three tone" is written, possibly indicating the section title.
** Also in the 15th demo, one of the files loaded into a sampler (likely indicating a sample used in the live material) is Gap Band's "Burn Rubber On Me (Why You Wanna Hurt Me)"
* The CAT number, WARP444, was likely specifically requested by Autechre, to reference the song "444" off their first album, Incunabula.
* The main cover art for AE_LIVE 2022－ consists of all the individual set art overlaid on top of each other.

Incunabula is the first album by Autechre. It was originally released on November 29th, 1993 on Warp Records, as part of the Artificial Intelligence series. It was later repressed on vinyl in 2016, alongside Amber, and Tri Repetae.
Sean Booth has later recounted in interviews that Incunabula was “more of a compilation of old material” than an album, and that Amber, their second album, was really the first album they released on Warp Records.

Gear known to have been used in its creation includes the Casio SK-1, the Roland R8 and the Roland TR-606.
